Dear Students and Parents: Greetings! Welcome to the Mexico City Project. There are a few things you should know before arriving. Very soon I will be sending you a list of things to bring (and not to bring). As well, the national office has already put a fundraising packet in the mail to you. Please look for it and check any alternate mailing addresses you may have given us. It is very important that you begin fundraising as soon as possible. Please know that we want you to keep us updated about how things are going throughout the process. I want to hear from you: if you have any questions or conflicts or if you just want to let me know everything is going great. I encourage you to keep me posted through frequent e-mails and phone calls. I promise to also send you frequent emails giving you important reminders and information so make sure to check your inboxes. Here are some details: We will be meeting on July 10th at 5pm for orientation. The location will be in Miami and I will email you with this exact location very soon. We will fly out of the Miami airport together on the morning of July 11th. We will arrive back from Mexico on July 28 at approximately 4pm. We would like you to have the first half of your trip cost raised and turned in by May 30. June 28 is the second tentative deadline to have raised the cost of the project. If you think this is going to be a problem please contact me so I will be aware of the situation and possibly help you think through your circumstances. Finally, I will be posting all of the important information from this packet on the Mexico City blog. Feel free to use the site as a reference in case you lose this info or you could encourage your parents to save the site’s address in case they would like to have the information while you are away. http://mexicocityproject.spaces.live.com I am looking forward to working with you and watching you grow in the Lord. If you need anything at all, please call me at (813.220.7059) Take care and keep us posted. We will be praying that God prepares you for this exciting time. God bless, Stacy March 27 STILL SPACE I just wanted to make a note that we are approaching the beginning of April and there is still space on the team. Please don't hesitate to fill out an application if you think the Mexico trip is where you should be this summer. Stacy Director, Mexico City 08 January 12 Mexico City '08 at ArmoniaMexcio City will be an introduction to cross-cultural missions and working with the urban poor. This program will combine service, evangelism, and theological reflection. It will be like a two week class, a missions-lab where we will learn about the struggles of the urban poor in Mexico and the challenge to those who would bring the gospel. Believing that the spirit of God is already powerfully at work in the lives of the Mexican people we want to come alongside those who are co-laboring with God to see his kingdom come in tangible ways. With this in mind, we will be both serving and learning from an indigenous Mexican ministry called Armonia. |
